How file processing works

Every tool currently on ZippyToolkit processes files locally, in your browser. Here is exactly what happens.

  1. You choose a file. Your browser gives the page permission to read only that file.
  2. The tool’s code – downloaded with the page – reads the file into your device’s memory.
  3. The conversion runs on your device’s processor. No network request carries your file.
  4. The result is created in memory and offered as a download.
  5. When you leave or reload the page, the data is released from memory.

How you can verify it

Open your browser’s developer tools (F12), switch to the Network tab and use any tool. You will see the page’s own code loading, but no request uploading your file.

Limits of in-browser processing

  • Very large files are limited by your device’s memory. A laptop handles bigger files than an older phone.
  • Some conversions (for example PDF to Word) are simplified compared to desktop software, as explained on each tool page.
  • Scanned documents need OCR (text recognition), which is planned but not yet available.
