Limitations to know

  • Works on text-based PDFs; scanned tables need OCR, which is not yet supported.
  • Column detection is based on text alignment. Merged cells, wrapped cell text or tables without clear spacing may need manual tidying.
  • Numbers are stored as numbers only when they are unambiguous; values like “00123” stay as text.

Privacy: PDF Tables to Excel runs entirely in your web browser. Your PDF data is not uploaded, stored or shared, and nothing about its contents is sent to analytics.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract a table from a PDF into Excel?

Load the PDF, choose the pages that contain the table, click “Extract tables”, check the preview grid, and download the .xlsx file. Each page becomes a worksheet when you choose “one sheet per page”.

Why are some columns merged or split?

PDFs do not store tables, only positioned text. The tool infers columns from the gaps between text. Tables with very narrow gaps or wrapped cells can be misread – adjust in Excel afterwards.
