Limitations to know

  • The marla is defined differently in different places: 225 sq ft is the standard used by Pakistan’s housing authorities, while 272.25 sq ft is the traditional (revenue) marla still used in parts of Pakistan and in Indian Punjab and Haryana. Both are listed – check which one your document uses.
  • Bigha, biswa and katha are not included because their size differs from state to state. Check your local land-records office for those.
  • For legal or financial decisions, confirm the definition with your local land authority.
  • Results are shown to up to 10 significant digits; extremely large or small values switch to scientific notation (e.g. 1.5e-12).
